British Cultural Week – Altin Gjoni & Sara Payman Perform at The ‘Royal Tea Party’

It was an honour for BACA to be part of the British Cultural Week in Albania, with Altin Gjoni & Sara Payman, two board members of BACA, performing as invited artists at the ‘Royal Tea Party’ on the 14th of November in Kukes.

The event featured a mix of activities, including a regional market fair, opening remarks from the Charge d’Affairs of the British Embassy in Albania, Mrs Julia Sutherland, and the Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel David Strong, and traditional Albanian dancers from the city’s high school, who delighted the attendees with northern Albanian dances.

The royal tea party is an event held in Albania multiple times, each time featuring esteemed artists who showcase the best of both cultures. The blend between Altin Gjoni’s guitar playing, an Albanian artist shaped by UK culture, and Sara Payman’s, a British singer shaped by Albanian culture, was the perfect example of what the British Cultural Week – an event supported by the UK embassy, British Council, Ministry of Culture and the entire body state of Albania.

Their set swayed between Albanian traditional songs, contemporary UK pop, and classics that spanned the decades of each country’s popular music.
